Dearest Respected Mamaji,
Dearest Respected Mamaji,
There is this feeling of emptiness, a void that’s setting in now. The last two and a half years, we could hardly ever interact but we knew you were there, looking after us all.
Mamaji, for me you were the most inspiring family member. I would never tire talking about your amazing personality, your achievements and your caring nature to my friends right from when I was a little girl. You were the celebrity in our lives, literally. When we attended the felicitation ceremony when you were elected as the President of RI, I sat through the ceremony with such pride and took away an important lesson that day – whatever project you start, be it small or big – make sure you take it to a logical conclusion. I try and practice this in my life.
With the passing away of Nanaji, you took on the reigns of looking after the family with such grace. As children, we saw Papa-Mummy lean on you for emotional support and help us with any major hurdle in life.
You were like a Santa who could make magic happen in our lives. My life, my career is dotted with interventions by you. You have played a huge part in my admission into BBM, MBA and even my marriage. When I stayed at Delhi, I so valued the conversations we would have in the evenings. There was always so much to learn from you!
We would feel so pampered by you during our summer vacations at Delhi. Can picture you so clearly sitting at your office with the plaques, recognitions of the season adorned on the shelves. The mesmerising image of you being awarded the Padmashri at the study at Shanti Niketan home. Waiting for samosas on Sunday afternoons; those amazing meals we have had together at the Hyatt; waiting for your trips to Bangalore / Pune; looking forward to the truffle cakes you painstakingly carried for us; celebrating some of the most special occasions like weddings and milestones together, bring back a never-ending flashback of memories. Delhi will never be the same again.
‘The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it. — William James.’ The legacy you built will be cherished by all for aeons to come.
Thank you for being a part of our lives.
May your soul rest in peace. Keep smiling and blessing us from the heavens above.
With lots of love and tons of gratitude and respect always,
Sniggy
